What you can do with Discount Calculator

  • Calculate percentage discounts, fixed amount discounts, reverse discount rates, and original prices.
  • Switch tax-included or tax-excluded prices, tax rates, and rounding modes.
  • Check stacked discounts and compare which offer saves more.

How to use

  1. Choose the calculation type and enter the original price.
  2. Enter the discount rate, discount amount, or sale price required for that mode.
  3. Review the final price, savings, and effective discount rate as they update automatically.

How to read the results

The top of the result area shows the final price, reverse-calculated original price, or reverse-calculated discount rate depending on the mode. The savings amount is shown clearly below it.

The breakdown lists original price, final price, discount amount, and discount rate. If tax settings are enabled, tax-included and tax-excluded final prices are shown as well.

For stacked discounts, the effective discount rate is also shown. For example, 20% off and then 10% off 10,000 yen becomes 7,200 yen, which is effectively 28% off.

FAQ

How do I calculate 20% off?
Multiply the original price by 0.8. For example, 20% off 3,000 yen is 3,000 × 0.8 = 2,400 yen.
What percent off is 500 yen off?
Divide the discount amount by the original price and multiply by 100. For example, 500 yen off 2,500 yen is 20% off.
Is 20% off and then 10% off the same as 30% off?
No. Applying 20% off and then 10% off to 10,000 yen results in 7,200 yen, which is effectively 28% off.
Should I calculate from tax-included or tax-excluded prices?
Use tax-included prices when you want the amount you will actually pay. For tax-excluded prices, check the discounted price after adding tax.
Why can the result differ from a store by one yen?
Rounding and tax calculation order differ by store and service, so small one-yen differences can happen.
